3D Printing Experience

With this being my first time with 3D printing, I didn’t have any expectations.

So, it’s hard to say what I think the biggest downside would have to be? It could be that the thing you are printing is limited to the workspace of the printer. Like, if you wanted something to be enormous, you would need an enormous printing with the amount of workspace necessary for something massive. However, I don’t even know if there are any massive 3D printers, and if there are, I’d guess they’d not be easily obtainable. Leading to you having to shrink your previously massive creation into a smaller creation that fits in the workspace of the printer.

I don’t personally see that as an issue, just something you’d have to work around, but I can see how it may be frustrating.

But, I also don’t know exactly what the best upside about 3D printing would be? It might be working digital takes out the hassle of doing physical work or any cleanup. I can see why that would make someone choose 3D printing over another type of 3D medium.

Again, while I don’t have that problem or see it as all that convincing, I can see how it may help someone else.

My keychain ended up being a miniature house. TinkerCAD had a lot of angular options so my first though was a building. Then I got to thinking since it was going to be keychain sized, I should make a house in reference to those tiny homes people build in real life. It’s a simple enough design that I thought it would translate well when printing.

And well, it did!

While I don’t have an image for it, the print quality for being free was fantastic in my eyes! It was sturdy and all of my little details also showed up just fine in the print. The only thing that went wrong was the little donut shaped hook at the left side, I accidentally broke it off while prying off the casing of the print. While getting of the casing was a bit nerve-wracking, I’m pretty pleased that nothing other than the hook part got broken on it.
